Yesterday, I participated in a Sumobot competition against other teams from my university. In this competition, we had to face many great bots and have to prove our best against 23 other teams. Before getting into the performance, let's talk about the team:
How the team was founded
Before the competition, our team, including me, Khang, Minh, and Khôi, were friends deciding to form a study group together, and when we saw the Sumobot competition, we decided to form a team.
How the name was created
Our friend group was called "Chữa lành vết thương", and we used the English translation for this competition: "Heal the Wound".
How the preparation was
We had a day to build the best robot and also the best strategy to fight against others in the tournament. And after all, we came up with this bot:

And our strategy was to use the flipper at the front to attack opponents who were approaching from the front. The disadvantage was that the sides are vulnerable and prone to pushes. This was what cost us later in the tournament.
Group stages
We played 5 games against 5 different opponents and won against 4 of them, losing unluckily against 1 (unlucky, as we would have won if they didn't move for 1 more second)
Finals
We got into the top 3 of the group stages and qualified for the top 8 of the finals. We started the quarter-finals against a team where the bot was pretty strong. We luckily won the first match, but lost the second right after. To our relief, our bot won the next two matches and won 3-1 overall, getting to the semi-finals.
For the semi-finals, we faced the same team that beat us in the group stages, and we won 1, drew 1, and lost 3, getting us out of the competition at third place overall.
Feelings
At first, we just came for free food and free merch, but after the competition, we felt that every experience there was so fun that we would dreamt about it at night. What a day yesterday.
